New York City Football Club is a recent addition to city’s cousin franchise New York Red Bulls who also takes part in the competitions of MLS, a major football league comprising of teams from the various parts of USA. The NYCFC practices in the Yankee Stadium and the color of the dress is blue on the top with white shorts for home games and all black jersey for all the away games.


Like the Manchester City in the EPL, Etihad too is announced as the jersey sponsor of the club. The football club started its journey from May 21 in 2013 and from then the secondary sponsors of the club have been Heineken and Adidas.

Players in the team

Apart from participating in the MLS Soccer League, the list of players that the team has chosen is one of the best in the whole country. Recently the club has signed striker David Villa, a part of Euro and World Cup winning of Spain. The transfer was made after the after New York City paid a healthy amount to his home club at Spain. A big money transferred even followed after it, as England’s perhaps most popular attacking midfielder Frank Lampard also signed the contract with the club on the process Designated Player Rule.

Apart from all the big budget moves the club has also made some strategic moves with the inclusion of the former Manchester City man and a United States international Claudio Reyna. To go with it the club has also included the player from the country like the Andrew Watson-Siriboe, Jeb Brovsky and many more.

With club showing intent to grab hold of the trophy of MLS this time around, but there has a doubt about where the team is going to host its home games. It has been confirmed from by the management and authority that this season they will host in their home games in the Yankee Stadium, and within a few years a football stadium will be made ready in the adjacent areas.
